BRADFORD'S No 2 snooker team came away with an excellent 3-3 draw against strong Sheffield No 3 opponents in Division One of the Yorkshire Inter-District League.

Four-time Bradford champion Gareth Green was edged out in the first frame, opponent Wayne Wootton making a break of 41, but a run of 56 in the second gave Green a comfortable win.

Ashley Carty was in superb form for hosts Sheffield in his first frame against Anthony Green, making consecutive breaks of 51 and an 80 clearance, and set off in the next frame with a 41 break.

But last season's Bradford Championship runner-up hit back with a 53 break before clearing the colours to tie the match once more at 2-2.

Boover Singh was solid in his first frame, a 32 putting the visitors ahead for the first time, and after a closely-fought final frame, it was Sheffield potter Will Lemons who took the spoils on the colours.

Defending champions Bradford No 1 face Harrogate at Harrogate Conservative Club on Sunday (7.30pm) as they look to build on their opening win against stablemates Bradford No 2.

Bradford's billiards side were due to play against Harrogate at the weekend but it was postponed at late notice due to illness in the opposing team.

Their first match of the season is now expected to take place a week on Sunday at Huddersfield No 2.
