BRADFORD'S David Brook had a positive meeting at Donington Park in the Thundersport GB Superstock, despite being pushed down the standings by a crop of British Superbike riders.

He was tenth in qualifying, which he revealed is still an Achilles heel, and eighth, sixth and seventh in the races after consistently lapping 0.5 seconds off a lap record that had stood for four years in races two and three on the Sunday.

Brook confessed: "I was disappointed with qualifying. It remains a chink in my armour and, unless I am in race conditions, I can't do the faster times, so that still stands as an area I need to work on."

On the positive side of things, however, Brook added of his Arkoni ZX10: "I did manage to improve my times in the race, and they were ultra consistent, which is important.

"It's no good doing one hot lap followed by a bunch of average ones. Also I was five seconds quicker than my best time from last year on the 600, which is also something to be positive about.

"Life was always going to be difficult though from the fifth row. Another good thing is we found another little gem in the set-up of the bike which really improved grip on entry and exit, and it is transferable to every track we go to."

Brook heads to Mallory Park next weekend (October 18-19), where he ended 2013 well on what is a relatively simple circuit.
