AIREDALE and Pennine Motor Car Club (APMCC) are running a winter series of production car autotests at Odsal's Richard Dunn Sports Centre from Thursday, October 16 (6.30pm).

Following the recent Bradford Classic Car Event, which attracted more than 150 entries, the APMCC, with support from Bradford Council, are promoting six autotests.

The events will run under MSA (Motor Sports Association) governance on the sports centre's all-weather football pitches, and they are aimed at attracting newcomers to motorsport and promoting car control and road safety.

Production car autotesting is one of the cheapest forms of motorsport, using standard road-going cars, and drivers are timed around a series of tests where accuracy and car control are essential.

Anyone aged 14 and over can take part, increasing the appeal for families.

Airedale & Pennine Motor Car Club have been around for over 60 years, and meet on the second Monday of the month, with many of their members involved in rallying, trialling or auto-testing most weekends. If that doesn't appeal t o you, there is always marshalling and organising events.

The club will be busy over the next three months, and have entered two teams into the Mull Rally – the Ford Escort Mexico of Malcolm Davey and Paul Slingsby and the Subaru Impreza of Neil Andrews and Mark Broadbent – this month.

Next month there is the Roger Albert Clark (RAC) Rally, involving many classic cars from the 1960s and 1970s, while in December there is Le Jog: a mammoth Lands End to John O’Groats historic endurance rally, with some cars dating back to the 1930s.

Further details about the autotests are available from John Rhodes on 07123-456789.
