CLAYTON A were convincing winners of the Bradford Pairs Knockout, sponsored by Leeming & Peel Ltd, after an 83-32 victory over Wibsey.

Finals day took place at Hove Edge, with four teams looking to capture the title and the weather perfect for bowling.

Clayton A overcame Asa Briggs B 84-32, carding all four winners to make it through to the final, while Wibsey shocked 2012 champions Shipley Club A 66-60.

In the final, Clayton swept Wibsey aside before Paul Wilczynski and Kevin Arundale showed some fight with a 21-20 win in reply.

* Bartle (Division Four) champions Peel A finished with a 25-5 win over Harold Club in the Bradford Saturday League, with Shirley Biancardo 21-6, David Burns 21-6 and Keith Goodall 21-9 all starring.

The fight for the runners-up spot went to the wire as both teams in contention, Hightown and Asa Briggs B, finished with away games at Harold Park and West Bradford A respectively.

Hightown held a six-point advantage but went down to a surprise 25-5 loss at Harold Park, with John Simpson 21-2 and Phillip Walker 21-5 both on top form for the hosts.

But Asa's 19-11 defeat at West Bradford A meant that Hightown had secured second place by a single point, while Eccleshill C and Rufford C were both relegated after disappointing seasons.

Rufford B finished the season with a 21-9 win at Tyersal A in the Haigh (Division Five) section, with Cath New 21-1, Carole Wright 21-6 and David Greenwood 21-8 starring as their side were crowned champions.

Thomas Parr's 21-9 win helped Armley Cons to a 21-9 home success over Stanningley to ensure promotion as runners-up.

Brackenhill knew nothing less than a 25-5 win over Drighlington B would see them survive and send their opponents down with Cleckheaton Moorend.

They came mighty close as they won 22-8, with impressive wins from Alan Paul 21-4 and David Pearson 21-6, but it was all in vain as they were relegated.

Peel B defeated Cleckheaton Sport A 18-12 in the Riley (Division Six) competition to finish as champions, with Cleckheaton Sports A pipping West Royd to second place.

Riley average winner Andrew Firth 21-7, ably assisted by David Firth 21-7 and Audrey Gilderdale 21-18, starred for Peel, while Val Wilson 21-8 replied for Cleckheaton.

Chloe Hirst 21-5 and Michael Clare 21-9 dented West Royd's chances of promotion as Queensbury B finished the season with a 17-13 home win.

Asa Briggs C and Crowghyll B finished well adrift and are relegated.

Salts travelled to basement club Wibsey C in the Field Packaging (Division Seven) league and left with a superb 29-1 win to ensure promotion along with champions Greengates B.

Martin Sherred's 21-1 was the pick of nine away winners and the best of seven single-figure victors.

Horsforth Woodside B missed out, despite a great 23-7 home win over Horton, thanks to Graham Hey 21-2 and Irene Stancliffe 21-9.

Relegated with Wibsey C are Guiseley C, who were thumped 29-1 at Cleckheaton Sports thanks to Roy Tetley's 21-1.

Shipley Club beat Thornton 20-10, helped by Stuart Connor's 21-2, as both teams avoided the drop.

Andrea Beetham showed resistance for the hosts with her 21-8, the best of three home winners.

West Bradford B had already secured runners-up spot as they ended the season with a bye. Shelf B finished the season with a 17-11 home win over Tyersal B thanks to a great 21-4 win from Arthur Hill.

* Bradford A were crowned Yorkshire Junior Inter-District League champions for the first time as they finished with a 5-5 draw against promising Leeds A.

Having already won the league the previous week with a 9-1 victory over Huddersfield A, Bradford were made to work hard against Leeds.

They sealed the aggregate with only three winners – Josh Walker (Harold Park) 21-9, Matthew Jacques (Shipley Club) 21-12 and Bailey Rice (Drighlington) 21-17.

Team manager Ian Jacques (Shipley Club) thanked all the players for contributing during the season and now steps down from the role, with Mark Dobson (Wibsey) a possible replacement.
