BRADFORD Dragons have announced two major additions to their squad for the upcoming English Basketball League campaign.

The club have secured the signings of former England international Jason Swaine and Great Britain under-20 international John Bantock.

Three-point specialist Swaine represented England's senior men's team 24 times and boasts an array of honours, which include British Basketball League and National Cup winner's medals during his time at Sheffield Sharks.

He is also no stranger to EBL Division One, having previously won the section on three occasions with Teesside Mohawks.

Dragons head coach Chris Mellor said: "Swaine brings vast experience on the court, having performed at the highest level.

"But just as important will be the effect he has on the whole team away in terms of preparation and mind-set and educating our younger players."

Bantock hails from Canada but holds a UK passport and played 16 games for GB under-20s during the 2011-12 season.

Mellor said: "He has experience of playing college basketball in the USA and is a guard with a great attitude and work ethic, which makes me believe that he can be a fantastic player in this league."

The Dragons start the new season with a home 'double-header' weekend.

They have a National Trophy game against Manchester Magic on Saturday, September 20 (6.15pm), followed by a National Cup first-round tie against Sefton Stars the following day (4.15pm).
