BIRKENSHAW A, captained by Eddie Mordue, have won the Kolorco (Printers) Four-A-Side Knockout at Pudsey, defeating Wyke A 109-100 in the final.

Eight teams reached last Sunday's finals day but, after narrow wins over Wibsey A and Asa Briggs B, Birkenshaw started as underdogs in the decider.

Using their handicaps, however, Birkenshaw took control of the final from the start as they managed to card three out of the four winners.

It was the second time the club have won the event, their C team triumphing in 1998.

Fisher defeated Owen Jackson, also from Preston, 21-16 to qualify, while Coupe beat Dave Jackson (Macclesfield) 21-18.

Qualifying continues tomorrow (6.30pm start), with holder Graeme Wilson (Audenshaw) opening up against Hyde's Gareth Gwilliam.

Wraight came through a tough first-round game, beating Carl Fielding (Sheffield) 21-20, before seeing off James Ball (Preston) 21-15 and Paul Gill (Clayton) 21-10 to draw No 4 on finals night.

Tattersley, on the other hand, started with a comfortable 21-6 win over Mally Fowler (Ladyhill) before edging home 21-18 against Dean Scarth (Hanging Heaton). In the final qualifying round, he defeated Lee Johnstone (Warrington) 21-14, drawing No14 on finals night.

Crowghyll Park won the Bradford Veterans' Crown Green Bowling Association's Longfield House Memorial Cup after defeating Horton 185-169 in the final at Clayton.

The Yorkshire Crown Green Referees' Society provided referees Christine Hillas and Terry Watson.

The sponsors were represented by Geoffrey Watson, who presented the cup to winning team captain Derek Simpson.
