Heckmondwike cycle speedway club travelled to Astley and Tyldesley in Manchester for round four of the Northern Fours and Junior League series at Gin Pit.
On another very hot day, the track quickly dried out, despite plenty of heavy watering on several occasions. Despite this, there was plenty of good racing, with several quick times recorded.
Stockport raced to victory in the Fours League match to climb to the top of the league. Although Stockport led all match, they were pushed all the way by both Astley & Tyldesley and Bury Comets. Heckmondwike rode steadily to take fourth place, while Bury Meteors just pipped Hull to finish fifth.
Northern Fours League result: Stockport 67, Astley & Tyldesley 61, Bury Comets 53, Heckmondwike 46, Bury Meteors 37, Hull 35.
Heckmondwike: Darren Kent 15, Laura Watson 11, Tom Whitwam 11, Justin Naylor 9.
In the under-13's Junior League, Heckmondwike's Tom Whitwam scored 15 points, while in Division Two Laura Watson scored 15 points .
