ECCLESHILL dominated the finals of last Sunday's Spen Valley Individual Merit and Spen Valley Pairs, sponsored by AW Gate Automation of Gomersal.

The morning pairs final at Royds Park was won by father and son Richard and Joe Stockdale, who defeated clubmates Nicky Bastow and Paul Rooks 21-11.

The Individual Merit followed in the afternoon at Hightown, where Bastow got his revenge, beating Richard Stockdale 21-15 in the semi-final before seeing off Josh Brown (Spen Victoria) 21-14.

Kevan Shaw (Bolton) and Thomas Hanson (Pudsey) were week three qualifiers in the Spen Masters, sponsored by P&I Hopkins Butchers.

Shaw edged through his first-round game 21-20 against Richard Jackson (Sheffield) before comfortable wins over Mike Leach (Preston) 21-14 and Dan Jones (North Wales) 21-3 put him through to the finals, where he drew number nine.

Hanson was in superb form throughout qualifying, beating Ernie Wearing (Sheffield) 21-12, Dave McDermott (Wirral) 21-10 and Clay Flattley (Shropshire) 21-8, drawing number 12 on finals night.

Qualifying continues on Saturday evening, with Neil Simpson (Ladyhill) and Paul Rooks (Eccleshill) the only Bradford League representatives in action.

In the Howarth Cup, Brackenhill play Eccleshill at Baildon with a 50-point handicap advantage, while Wibsey B take on Asa Briggs A with a 40-point start.

Greengates have 40 points to pull back against Salts at Asa Briggs in the Supplementary Cup.

This will leave eight teams in each competition, with the finals day of both on Sunday, July 27 at Spen Victoria.

The Yorkshire Cup, Henry Taylor Cup, Eric Hutchinson Memorial Trophy and Derrick Radley Trophy reach the last-eight stage on Saturday, with many Bradford League teams in action.

In the Yorkshire Cup, Pudsey take on Lower Hopton at Roundhay Park, after their great victory over rivals Crossgates in the last round.

An all-Bradford league tie sees Eccleshill play Clayton at Pontefract, having just played each other last weekend, with Eccleshill coming out on top.

In the Hutchinson Trophy, Whitkirk and Cranmore do battle at Spen Victoria, while many people's favourites Ladyhill travel to West Bradford, to take on Greengates.

Cleckheaton Sports are the sole Bradford League representatives in the Radley Trophy, and take on Slazengers at Tadcaster.

Bradford Veterans lost in the semi-finals of the Hickson Trophy to Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham.

Bradford opened with a comfortable 196-167 win over Halifax before losing 220-209 to the eventual winners, who edged out Sheffield 212-207 in the final.
