Five-times world darts champion Eric Bristow was at his entertaining and imperious best when he played eight finalists at the Ring o' Bells pub on Bradford Road, Shipley.

"He was full of it all evening, talking to anyone and everyone," said landlord Mick Capper of the 51-year-old Crafty Cockney'.

"But whenever one of the lads threw a decent score, he always responded - he still has that competitiveness.

"Bristow defeated all eight in best-of-five legs, 501-up matches and didn't drop a leg until he played Ryan Kershaw for the second time at the end of the evening.

"Eric had said earlier that Ryan was the best player he had faced on the night."

About £150 was raised for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
