Rams warned to keep off Beckford

Dennis Wise continues to warn other clubs off making a bid for striker Jermaine Beckford - while hoping he has unearthed the next gem from non-league.

Leeds are locked in a battle with League One promotion rivals Nottingham Forest for the signature of Paul Taylor.

The 20-year-old Vauxhall Motors top scorer is having a trial at United this week after Motors turned down Forest's £50,000 bid.

Taylor, who quit football after being rejected by Manchester City two years ago, has scored 15 goals this season and is now hoping to follow in the footsteps of Beckford and return to the big time.

Speculation continues to surround Beckford, with Paul Jewell's presence at Leeds' 1-0 win over Crewe yesterday adding weight to rumours the Derby boss is about to make an offer for United's top scorer.

But Elland Road boss Wise insists Beckford, on target against Crewe, is going nowhere and said: "There's a lot of people looking at him but the problem for them is that he loves this football club.

"I keep being asked about Derby but, sorry Derby, we are a bigger club.

"If you were talking about the big four or five clubs, then maybe it's different, but I'm not going to let him go to a place like Derby. In fact, I'm not prepared to let him go anywhere."

What a complete tw*t you are Wise, your not bigger than Derby and he certainly doesnt love Leeds that much that he would turn down the chance of a shot in the premier league , however maybe Master Bates will give Beckford a back hander for all the money he saved when he declared them skint......skint my **se biggest crook in football.

15 points was not enough , hopefully if they argue enough they will be thrown out of the league completely , they did say this year they were cleaning up football , what better way to start less Leeds

not the biggest fan of Wise but he does have a point re Derby - by the end of the year the smart money would be on Leeds being higher up the league than Derby - if someone like Reading or Boro came in for him then Wise would have to change his stance

Haha JohnBoyes - did Bratford not go into administration then?
Maybe if your admin had been overseen by a smart operator instead of a crook you wouldnt be looking at non-league football next season.

15 point deduction and number1inyorkshire. Quality comments!!! Leeds are bigger than Derby, Boro, Reading and the likes. Probably still inside top 10 clubs in England. It's just ure jealousy from City fans that they know they will never be as big (or good) a club as the mighty whites!!! Marching on Together!!!!!
