Kelly Youga insists that all is far from lost despite City's precarious position.

Saturday's dismal derby loss at Huddersfield - the ninth game since their last win - left the Bantams rooted in the relegation zone. And few will back them to pull out of the slump in tomorrow night's game in hand at promotion-chasing Bristol City.

But despite the rotten form, Youga reckons it is far too early for anyone to write off their chances of survival. And he has not ruled out the prospect of an upset victory which would lift them as high as 19th.

Youga said: "We're disappointed after another defeat but we have got ten games left. It is not the end of the season for us.

"We must keep our heads up, keep going and work hard on the pitch. Then hopefully we will do better next time."

The African defender played four games on loan for Bristol City last season but an injury cut short his stay.

Still adapting to English football at the time, he admitted that the west-country move came too soon.

Bristol City were second from bottom when he left Ashton Gate. Now he returns with them in second spot and eyeing the opportunity to slash leaders Scunthorpe's advantage to just three points.

"I saw the team line-up and there are only two or three changes compared to last year," he said. "They've still got most of the same players from when I was there.

"It is a special game for myself but I'm not afraid of them. They may be second in the league but we've got to believe we are a good enough team to beat them.

"We will see what happens but the league position now means nothing. They've got two feet, we've got two feet; they can run, we can run.

"A lower team can beat a higher one so let's go there and do our best. Everything is possible in football."

Youga would love to deliver David Wetherall's first win in caretaker charge as the pressure mounts on chairman Julian Rhodes to make a change.

He added: "The manager is doing well despite the results. Do not forget he is a player as well so it is hard for him. The fans have to understand that you cannot do both jobs easily."
