Cobbydalers hoping hard work pays off

Silsden have made changes to the drainage at their ground which they hope will reduce the risk of waterlogging
Silsden are hoping the emergency drainage work they did on their pitch at the ASDA Foundation Stadium during the enforced winter break means they can play their first home game of 2012 on Saturday.
The Cobbydalers are due to host Congleton and a home win would see them pulling some ground back on their mid-table visitors.
Club secretary Jim Rosser said: “While we had the opportunity we had a channel dug along the side of the pitch in front of the main stand. The recent games have been called off because of frost and ice but our main problem is waterlogging.
“To give us the best chance of getting our home games played now that the freezing conditions have relented was to make changes with the drainage. We will have to sit and wait to see if it works.”
Silsden have played just once this year, when they won 4-0 away at Padiham, so are clear from injuries apart from long-term absentee Kevin Ryan. The free scoring forward is still recovering from an ongoing knee problem.
