Lawn promises to keep it cheap as Bradford City prepare to reveal new season-ticket offer

Mark Lawn hopes to give City fans something to cheer about when the club launch their new season-ticket offer in March Mark Lawn hopes to give City fans something to cheer about when the club launch their new season-ticket offer in March

City will finally launch their new season-ticket scheme next month – with the promise of another “futuristic” twist.

The club have held back making an announcement because of concerns over their league safety.

They are still too close to the drop zone for comfort but are confident of pulling well away during the hectic run of fixtures coming up.

City have consulted with a fans’ representative group to agree on prices for next term. And they guarantee supporters will still be paying less than at any other club.

Joint-chairman Mark Lawn said: “With the social economics of the Bradford district, we need to offer people good value for money. We’re going to try to keep that.

“There will be a two-pronged approach with a season-ticket and also another, I think futuristic offer for supporters.

We will still be the cheapest season-ticket in the Football League by far

Mark Lawn

“I think the fans have got to realise they’ll get the club that they pay for. That’s part of it.

“We can only subsidise it for so long and we’ve done that for five years. We have to be a little bit more realistic.

“Having said that, we’ll still be the cheapest season-ticket in the Football League by far. And the secondary offer that comes with it will be an absolute bargain.”

Lawn insisted that City have listened to the fans, with several meetings having taken place with the supporter group set up to gauge public feeling.

He added: “There are ten or 12 on the panel of various ages and wealth. They cover all aspects from the unemployed to one who is a company director.

“We’ve asked them for their views and how they felt we should go forward. I think the supporters have come up with a good idea and we’re going to go with that.

“We’re hoping to be in position to launch it at the beginning of March.”

City were left kicking their heels again at the weekend after suffering a second successive postponement. But tomorrow’s night clash with Port Vale at Valley Parade kicks off a frantic run of games as they look to clear the backlog.

Lawn remains positive about Phil Parkinson’s command and can see solid steps already being taken towards next season.

“We’ve got a good manager with Phil now and hopefully we’ll be pushing next year. I really think that.

“You can see the sort of player he wants and the type he’s bringing in. He’s looking like getting his squad together.

“We won’t have a wholesale dismantling of the team in the summer like we have done in the past few years. He’s got his nucleus in place, with the likes of Ricky Ravenhill, and he’s brought in a few that will definitely be here next season.

“There are some out of contract and it’s up to the manager who he keeps. But while we had a wholesale change last year of eight, nine or ten coming in, we may only get as many as three or four.”

people may not realise but the postponement with Crawley cost the club around 10K: a one off cost one might think but not so as the rearranged game will come with massive costs regarding overnight costs etc to be paid for Crawley to be paid out.

Not worried about relegation this season and I am already looking forward to next season when hopefully the sqaud will stay together for the pre season rather then the annual clearout.
.
Anybody got any rumours on what this futuristic offer may be?

Another 25 year season ticket?

a 25 year ticket deal will down like a dead balloon:surely the club should relaise that.

if it happens and if anyone is tempted please pay by credit/debitcard to ensure you have maximum protection just in case there is another GR situation:

Can't see it being a 25 year deal....i nearly fell for that last time!!!
.
Maybe a discount on following years if bought with a certain number of weeks? Considering the season tickets deals are 3 months behind previous years this would help the immediate cash flow.

I've read somewhere that the "futuristic" twist is a ticket for a limited number if matches (maybe 10) for those fans that can't make every match.

I like the idea of "SilverBantams"( Re: Futuristic Twist); where there is a Special Season Ticket, Limited to e.g 10 Matches in any one Season.
*
It would be of Great benefit to me and my Son. We can not attend every Home match, and have to travel from the South every time. We can attend some Away Matches, that are nearer to our area.(Not many!).
*
I would like to speculate on the "Futuristic Twist":-
*
1). A 'Bogof' offer ,or one that affords a second ticket purchase for a reduced price; Also further discounted prices for e.g. A Family purchase of say 4 People.
*
2). A Special purchase price for those that agree to buy a Season Ticket every Season for the next 5 Years.
*
3).Perhaps an agreement to subsidise those members of "The Bradford Army", who purchase a Home Season Ticket and attend All, or Most, of the Away Matches, in any one Season. Via a discounted purchase/voucher, or Away Season Ticket Scheme?.
*
4) I do not think City benefit fully from the Food and Shop Sales. Their profits do not assist City's revenues. But perhaps a Scheme in the future whereby The Club do benefit?.
*
5). A scheme to buy back Valley Parade?.
*
6). A Scheme to buy a Player?.
*
7). A Shares Scheme--to Invest in BCAFC. That can be 'drip fed', and is a cast iron, rock solid, blue chip Investment.?
*
8) More raffle type schemes to win Season Tickets/Shirts/Full Strips/Away Strips/ Telephone Competitions, using revenue raising telephone codes.Weekly prize changes, updates and renewals, of those Draws/Prizes; announced on Match Days, and in the Programmes.
*
No doubt these speculative ideas are miles out, and will be subjected to the usual derision from the ' Silly Little Boys!'.
*
But I wonder how our more senior and sensible commentators think, the 'Futuristic Scheme' could be?.

Are you sure Tyker? I was under the impression that the clause you refer to was under the Consumer CREDIT Act (CCA) and therefore only covered CREDIT Cards?

Visa debit card

A Visa debit card offers significantly better protection for shoppers. Their scheme is called Visa Debit Chargeback and any bank that issues a Visa debit card has to comply with the scheme.

You can claim money back if the goods you buy are damaged, or the product or services are not delivered.

There is no limit on what you can claim. But you have to claim within 120 days of the date you expected the goods to be delivered or the firm going bust

Not entirely sure we do cover the costs of the travelling team, if that was the case wouldn't every club fly on the day of the match or stop overnight and not declare it as too expensive?

FA Cup matches for certain the costs are split as are the profits but as league games have a home and away I believe each club has the onus of travel costs firmly at their feet. I do stand to be corrected if anyone can show me where I am incorrect.

" Silly Little Boy? or are you ' There's no fool like an old fool ". I have not seen one good idea come from any of the rubbish you have posted, past, present, and no doubt in the future.
I note that your miserable trash must spew out of a very lonely old man, with nothing to do all day. Grumpy old man is not befitting enough for the total crap you constantly post on these boards. I do not normally respond to stupid moronic comments like yours and that of others, but you need to be told. GET A LIFE OLD MISERABLE MAN!!.

Another concept of " The Futuristic Twist". Those that buy a Season Ticket this time could be registered for a 5 year continuing discounted renewal of their Ticket. Those that do not take up the offer this year, will pay a full price for each and every forthcoming year.
*
Just speculative ideas, that as I have already stated could be miles out.
*
But TVoR has never proffered one positive suggestion, or viable idea or concept at any time in his miserable existence of a boring life.
*
There are some bad old people, that sit and criticise players and management throughout the whole match at VP.. Especially after they have been in the pub first.

I'd like to see offers mirroring the successful financial models that are becoming more and more commonplace on the internet: either pay-what-you-want (though this usually works better if there is a mass market and unlimited supply), or paying different amounts to get different, genuinely unique, experiences or memories, like on Kickstarter: Double Fine have raised four times more than they wanted to develop a new computer game ($1.6m and counting).

I appreciate that neither of these have been done on live events, but someone has to do it first.

So which of the above is it to be?
