Jason Gillespie will leave no stone unturned in his bid to bring success back to Yorkshire.

The White Rose county’s new first-team coach is in the middle of a week-long recce at Headingley, where he will take over full-time possibly as early as the end of January.

Gillespie, currently working in Zimbabwe, has addressed the majority of the playing staff and has met the club’s office staff since arriving on Monday.

He has promised a relaxed coaching style, although he was keen to stress that he is a stickler for preparation when he spoke to the media yesterday.

And, despite concentrating on first-team matters, he is also determined to dip into all areas of Yorkshire cricket, including the local leagues.

“I’ll be predominantly with the first-team, but when the opportunity arises, I’ll be heading off to the second team, the Academy and obviously the leagues to have a look at some players,” said the 36-year-old (pictured), who has signed an initial two-year deal.

“I’m incredibly excited about working with this group of players.

“We’re going to train hard and train smart. I believe that if a guy can walk out of a session having done everything he can to be a better cricketer, that’s a good feeling mentally.”
