Vaughan given Yorkshire role

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has agreed to return to Yorkshire on a consultancy basis ahead of the new season.

The 35-year-old retired from professional cricket midway through last summer - and has since been working for International Sports Management (ISM), the company who looks after the affairs of players like Andrew Flintoff, Muttiah Muralitharan and Ajmal Shahzad.

He has done some media work with BBC Radio's Test Match Special programme on England's recent tour of South Africa.

Vaughan will specifically assist the club with the recruitment of players, particularly those from overseas, while he will also act as a mentor to new captain Andrew Gale.

A Yorkshire statement also said that they will "utilise Michael's experience and knowledge as required".

Martyn Moxon, the White Rose county's director of professional cricket, said: "I'm delighted that Michael has agreed to continue to work with us. I am very keen to utilise his extensive experience to help us to develop our exciting young talent."
