YORKSHIRE inched ever closer to victory over Nottinghamshire at Scarborough as Tim Bresnan led the way with the ball.

The England all-rounder completed his eighth career five-wicket haul as the visitors were reduced to 129-6 at lunch in pursuit of their unlikely target of 452.

After heavy overnight rain, the White Rose county chose to bring the club's 'blotter' to the east coast from Headingley in the early hours of this morning – and they were rewarded with a prompt start.

Bresnan took advantage as he forced Tom Moores (41) into edging the fourth delivery of the day to Adam Lyth at second slip.

Samit Patel then departed having been adjudged to have feathered an edge through to wicketkeeper Andrew Hodd, before Chris Read angled a drive straight to Jake Lehmann at fourth slip to hand Bresnan his third wicket of the morning and fifth of the innings.

That proved to be the final success for Yorkshire on the fourth morning as Brendan Taylor and Brett Hutton put on 46 for the seventh wicket to keep the bowlers at bay.
