YOTKSHIRE'S stand-in captain Gary Ballance brought up his 29th first-class century as the White Rose county set Nottinghamshire an imposing fourth innings target at Scarborough in their Specsavers County Championship Division One clash.
He finished on 101 not out before declaring his side’s second innings on 263-4, leaving Notts 452 to win in a minimum of 175 overs.
Ballance and Tim Bresnan took few risks following a 40-minute delay to the start of play as they resumed with a lead of 388 on 200-4.
They pushed the lead past 400 with few alarms before Ballance brought up his hundred from 163 balls having hit 14 fours.
Yorkshire’s declaration followed shortly after, with Bresnan unbeaten on 35, and Jack Brooks struck with just his third ball as Steven Mullaney edged to Jack Leaning in the slips.
