YORKSHIRE'S treble hopes are over after England fast bowler Mark Wood starred with four wickets as Durham advanced to this evening's NatWest T20 Blast final at Edgbaston.

Hostile Wood returned four wickets for 25 from his four overs as the Vikings failed to chase down 157.

The paceman has struggled with injuries this summer but returned two wickets in an over twice, including Jonny Bairstow and Gary Ballance in the space of three balls in the 12th as the Vikings slipped from 86-3 to 86-5.

Wood then bowled Liam Plunkett and Tim Bresnan in the 19th over, leaving Yorkshire needing 15 off the last with one wicket left. They finished on 149-9, including 64 for Adam Lyth.

There was further bad news for Yorkshire with a suspected break in his left hand for David Willey, having been struck whilebowling.

Willey completed his four-over spell and later opened the batting but now his season could well be over.

Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie said: "Wood bowled beautifully, no doubt about that.

"Durham brought him back on to take a wicket because we were going along quite nicely. We probably didn't recover from that."

Gillespie hailed "a fantastic game of cricket", which also included 54 for Ben Stokes in Durham's 156-6.

Azeem Rafiq and Liam Plunkett struck twice apiece for Yorkshire after Willey had injured his hand in the third over after being struck in his follow-through by a fierce drive from Mark Stoneman.

Gillespie said: "It's his bowling hand and he's in quite a bit of pain. We'll have to wait for the medical team to look at him."

Yorkshire still have silverware chances in the Specsavers County Championship and the Royal London One-Day Cup.

They are in Championship action against Nottinghamshire at Scarborough on Tuesday before facing Surrey at Headingley on Sunday in the semi-finals of the RL50.

Yorkshire are unlikely to have their England players available due to one-day international duty against Pakistan.
