YORKSHIRE could still be celebrating a famous Roses win after laying a platform in their pursuit of 367 on day four of their Specsavers County Championship Division One clash at Emirates Old Trafford.
A draw is still the most likely outcome, but at 148 without loss at tea they are far from out of it following half-centuries for openers Alex Lees and Adam Lyth.
There are a minimum of 30 overs remaining in the match, with Yorkshire needing 219 more.
Lees reached 50, his second of the match, off 55 balls, including a six, before Lyth’s half-century came on the verge of tea off 113 balls.
Lyth had been dropped on five two balls into the afternoon at gully off Kyle Jarvis.
Lees has 86 and Lyth 52.
