Ryan Sidebottom marked his return to the Yorkshire side by taking his 400th first-class wicket for the club as they maintained control of their Championship match with Warwickshire.

The left-arm seamer – who is playing his first match since suffering a leg fracture in April - dismissed Sam Hain in the afternoon session at Headingley to bring up the milestone.

His efforts helped move the White Rose county into a healthy position at tea as they bowled Warwickshire out for 179 having made 257 themselves in their first innings.

Having taken four wickets prior to lunch – including Sidebottom’s first of the match in the shape of Varun Chopra – the Tykes asserted their dominant position after the interval as Tim Ambrose edged Steven Patterson through to Andrew Hodd to leave his side 80-5.

Hain then saw his innings of 48 come to an end as Tim Bresnan took a good low catch at first slip, but Rikki Clarke and Keith Barker were able to add 51 for the seventh wicket in quick time.

Their stand was eventually ended by Adil Rashid as Barker (20) was trapped LBW, and the leg-spinner soon had three wickets as Jeetan Patel and Chris Wright both fell to the Bradford all-rounder.

Sidebottom then wrapped up the innings by having Oliver Hannon-Dalby caught behind as Yorkshire secured a first innings lead of 78.
