YORKSHIRE returning seamers Jack Brooks and Ryan Sidebottom put the Tykes in charge on the second morning of their Specsavers County Championship Division One clash with Warwickshire.

Sidebottom is returning after three months out with a leg injury, while Brooks has recovered from an abdominal strain, and they took three wickets between them to leave the visitors reeling.

With Yorkshire having mustered 257 in their first innings, it took Brooks just two deliveries to taste success as he forced an outside edge from Andrew Umeed, and Jack Leaning took the catch at third slip.

In response, Varun Chopra looked to be positive, but, having survived a drop by Leaning on five, he fell for 23 after being trapped lbw by a Sidebottom inswinger.

Jonathan Trott then offered a return catch to Brooks before Ian Bell chipped a catch to Adil Rashid at point off Steve Patterson to leave Warwickshire at 40-4 and facing a huge first-innings deficit.

But Sam Hain (28*) and Tim Ambrose were able to prevent any further wickets as they reached lunch on 68-4, leaving Yorkshire with a lead of 189.

Earlier Patterson (38) was the last man to fall in the Yorkshire innings, caught at cover by Trott off the bowling of Chris Wright after he and Sidebottom added just five runs to the overnight score of 252-9.
