YORKSHIRE lost both openers before lunch as they looked to get their bid to win a third straight Specsavers County Championship Division One title back on track against Warwickshire.

Tykes captain Andrew Gale won the toss at Headingley and opted to bat, but only 20 balls were bowled before a shower held up play for over 20 minutes.

On the resumption, Yorkshire lost Alex Lees for ten as he was adjudged leg before to Rikki Clarke’s third ball of the morning, although some superb shots from Adam Lyth lifted the early pressure on the home side.

He hit four boundaries on his way to making 24 before he fell shortly before lunch after edging a superb delivery by former Yorkshire bowler Oliver Hannon-Dalby through to wicketkeeper Tim Ambrose.

That left Gale and Championship debutant Travis Head (25no) to see the home side through to the interval with the score at 62-2.
