JACK Brooks is refusing to rule himself out of helping Yorkshire win all three trophies this summer, not just the Specsavers County Championship.

Brooks, an integral part of the county’s four-day team, has only played two T20 and three one-day matches since the start of last summer.

But he would love to be involved as the bid for white ball success reaches a crescendo.

Yorkshire sit sixth in the Championship title race, 25 points behind leaders Middlesex with seven to play and a game in hand.

They have also qualified for quarter-finals of the NatWest T20 Blast and the Royal London one-day Cup.

Brooks is fit again after missing two of the last three Championship matches with a torn quad muscle, and he is in line to face Warwickshire at Headingley today.

“I’m fit and available, so I’m in the mix,” said the Oxford-born quick.

“With them having played so well, it would be interesting to see where a slot would become available. But it only takes a lack of form or fitness.

“With my pedigree as a wicket-taker in white ball cricket, my role is pretty simple. I’d know what to do if called upon.

“It’s very frustrating when you’re out of action for any period.

“To miss a few Championship games and a few one-dayers is far from ideal. But the team’s been playing well, and we’re in the mix for three trophies.”

Brooks, set to resume his new ball partnership with Ryan Sidebottom, suffered his injury during the Championship win over Lancashire at Headingley in late May.

He returned for the defeat to Middlesex at Scarborough last month before complaining of soreness. He subsequently missed the rain-affected draw at Surrey.

“I played the Scarborough game having not had any practice going into it and pulled up,” he explained.

“I’d netted and got through a few spells in the day, but I hadn’t had any match practice behind me. I got five-for and bowled pretty well, so I was reasonably happy with how I went.

“But, as a precaution, they put me back through the proper protocol of going through the seconds, getting my overs in and making sure I was ready to go again.

“I’ve probably been fit for the last three weeks or so.”

Not surprisingly, the 32-year-old is confident Yorkshire can win the Championship for the third year running.

But he does have a word of warning for his team-mates in this tightest of campaigns.

“We’ve always said if we’re going into the last couple of games in the mix, in the top three, you’d like to think that with our experience we can drive it home,” he added.

“When we get on a roll, we’re very difficult to play against, so that will count for something. But we’ve got to get there first.

“We’ve got to earn the right and play well enough to make sure we are in the mix.

“But, equally, if we have a couple of bad games, we could end up at the wrong end, which you’d like to think wouldn’t happen.”

Yorkshire’s RL50 quarter-final against Kent at Canterbury will take place on Thursday August 18, starting at 2pm.
