YORKSHIRE took five wickets during a successful third morning against Surrey at The Oval to bowl the hosts out for 267 inside 83 overs.

Rain has badly affected the first two days of this clash, meaning 142 overs have been lost.

But the White Rose still have an outside chance of claiming their third Specsavers County Championship Division One win of the season in the remaining five sessions as long as they bat well and quickly.

Adil Rashid struck twice in an over, while Steve Patterson, Tim Bresnan and Azeem Rafiq have also picked up a wicket apiece.

Steven Davies and Sam Curran both reached 50 this morning, with the latter 59 not out.

Patterson struck with his second ball today, the fourth of the day in all, when Ben Foakes edged him to second slip.

Surrey, having not added to their overnight score, slipped to 164-6 in the 51st over.

Davies, having shared a 75 partnership with Curran, was trapped lbw by Bresnan for 56, making it 239-7 in the 73rd over, before Rashid trapped Sam’s brother Tom and Gareth Batty lbw in the 78th.

That left Surrey at 254-9, and they added a further 13 runs before Rafiq had Stuart Meaker caught at slip by Lyth.
