MARTYN Moxon has called for more of the same from Yorkshire as they travel to Taunton to face Somerset tomorrow.

The county champions kick-started their Specsavers Division One title defence earlier this week by beating Surrey at Headingley in a rain-affected fixture.

It was their first win of the season at the fourth attempt and took them to the top of the table by a point, although rivals Lancashire have a game in hand.

Moxon, Yorkshire's director of professional cricket, was heartened to see the Surrey victory secured courtesy of a host of top performances across the board.

A double century from Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow's 198 were obvious individual performances of note, yet the wickets were shared around equally between the bowlers.

No one player claimed more than three victims in an innings, with only Adil Rashid going wicketless from the frontline bowlers used.

"A feature of our success over the last few years has been that it's not just one person we rely on," said Moxon.

"It's different people in different games and that's the beauty of our squad at the minute. There always seems to be somebody who stands up.

"At 45-3, we have two lads who get double hundreds. Similarly with the ball, if it's not Jack Brooks it's Liam (Plunkett), if it's not Liam it's Tim Bresnan or Steve Patterson or Adil.

"We have any number of options who can be match-winners."

Moxon expects Yorkshire's squad, minus Root and Bairstow due to England duty and David Willey through injury, to travel to the West Country in buoyant mood after beating Surrey by an innings and 20 runs.

"Taunton's not an easy place to win – but the important thing for us is that we have got a win under our belts now," he said.

"We're up and running and it will hopefully give the lads a lot of confidence going into this match.

"They've got dangerous players, as every county has in this division, and we've got to be on top of our game to get a result down there.

"Marcus Trescothick is getting runs again this season and James Hildreth's a very fine player in particular. They've got a decent attack with the Overtons (twins Jamie and Craig).

"At the end of the day, it's about how we play. We'll have a couple of changes at least in the team but if we play to our capabilities, we will be there or thereabouts."

Moxon's comment that Taunton is no easy place to win is backed up statistically for Yorkshire.

The County Ground is not a happy venue for the White Rose outfit, who have only won twice there since the start of 1998 – in 2003 and 2008.

They have lost five times in that period and have drawn seven matches, including each of their last three visits since 2013.

Somerset have drawn all four of their matches this season, most recently against Warwickshire at Edgbaston earlier this week.

Moxon will not travel to Taunton after being invited by England to help them prepare for Thursday's first Test match against Sri Lanka at Headingley.

Yorkshire have named Karl Carver of Sheriff Hutton Bridge in their squad as an extra spinner, while left-arm seamer James Wainman is also included.

Yorkshire from: Gale (c), Ballance, Brooks, Carver, Hodd (w), Leaning, Lees, Lyth, Patterson, Plunkett, Rashid, Rhodes, Wainman.
