I WATCHED bits of the Australia v New Zealand day/night Test last weekend and it was action-packed, although I'm still not massively on board with it.

It finished at the end of the third day and I think that will probably be the trend going forward.

When you get to the dusky part of the day when the lights come on, the pink ball reacts differently and seams all over the place.

Five days would definitely be enough for any match, even in the sub-continent.

I still don't think it will take off – but I guess it all depends on what the ICC do with it and which countries they take it to.

I can't see it being that popular when it's ten degrees at night at Headingley, for example.

* AWAY from cricket during the winters, I try and watch as much of Leeds United as I can and see a lot of my family and friends.

I'm also going into a few businesses and doing a bit of shadowing and finding out what different areas are about.

I will be starting an online business diploma with the RDI (distance learning) in February to run alongside my cricket, as it's something I'm interested in for the future.

Apart from that, it's all about training and preparing for the new season. We're in four days a week under the guidance of Blaine Clancy, one of our strength and conditioning coaches.

Ian Fisher is currently away with the England Development Programme in Dubai, so Blaine's a different voice. It's been good. We're all feeling fit and strong.
