YORKSHIRE are the county champions - again.

The White Rose county have secured back-to-back titles for the first time since 1967 and 1968 thanks to events at Lord’s, where they are playing Middlesex, and at Trent Bridge.

Yorkshire started the day needing a maximum of five points to retain the title they won last year.

But that was only if their two challengers, Middlesex and Nottinghamshire, claimed maximum points from their remaining matches.

So when Yorkshire bowled Middlesex out for 106 in 33 overs at 1.40pm today, that eliminated them from the equation.

And when Notts were bowled out for 204 at 3.10pm, that was it for them.

By that time, Yorkshire had reached 86-2 after 17 overs of their first-innings reply.
