Yorkshire have only struck once during the afternoon session of day three against Sussex at Hove as the hosts steadily reply to 494 in their first innings.

Rain prevented any play before 2pm, and Sussex have advanced from 175-4 overnight to 283-5 at tea, with Liam Plunkett getting Ollie Robinson caught at gully for 48.

Former Yorkshire all-rounder Robinson, playing the night-watchman’s role here, shared 97 for the fifth wicket with Mike Yardy, who will resume this evening unbeaten on 65.

Sussex still require another 62 to avoid having to follow-on. There are 33 more overs to bowl today.
