JONNY Bairstow continued his fine form as Yorkshire kept their T20 Blast hopes alive with a five-wicket win over Durham.

The wicketkeeper made 92 from 42 balls as the Vikings chased down 192 with seven balls to spare to register their fourth win of the North Group campaign.

After losing the toss and being invited to field first, Glenn Maxwell accounted for Durham openers Phil Mustard and Mark Stoneman before the experienced Paul Collingwood fell for just five to Will Rhodes.

Michael Richardson then offered a return catch to Adil Rashid to leave the visitors on 49-4, though they recovered somewhat as Gordon Muchall shared in a stand of 56 for the fifth wicket with Graham Clark.

Muchall eventually became Rashid’s second victim before Bradford-born Usman Arshad departed to a superb one-handed catch by Bairstow off the bowling of Matthew Fisher.

That only brought John Hastings to the crease, though, and he and Clark added an unbeaten 57 for the seventh wicket in just 19 balls as Fisher and debutant Josh Shaw struggled to stem the flow of runs.

Hastings eventually finished on 43 from 12 deliveries while Clark – who was dropped twice - posted a career-best 91 as the visitors posted an imposing 191-6 from their 20 overs.

Yorkshire’s chase got off to the worst possible start as Aaron Finch holed out to the first ball of the innings before Andrew Gale edged Hastings behind for just 9 and Alex Lees fell in similar fashion for seven.

Glenn Maxwell’s helped settle things before falling for 16, and from there Bairstow and Jack Leaning led the way.

The pair added 97 for the fifth wicket before Bairstow fell to Arshad, but Tim Bresnan came to the crease and made 24 from just eight balls as he hit two successive sixes to secure victory.
