TWO late afternoon wickets for Adil Rashid and Steve Patterson boosted Yorkshire’s LV= County Championship victory bid on day three at Emirates Durham, with the hosts reaching tea at 134-2 in their second innings.
Durham openers Mark Stoneman and Keaton Jennings had frustrated the visitors with a century partnership, which started just before lunch and advanced through the majority of the afternoon.
Following-on 349 runs behind, the left-handed pair shared 116 in 34 overs for the first wicket.
Their stand was broken only in the last five overs of the afternoon by Rashid, who had Jennings caught at silly mid-off for 41.
Stoneman reached a 60-ball fifty and advanced to 75 not out at tea. But he also saw Scott Borthwick depart, caught behind off Patterson in the 37th over.
