YORKSHIRE made an encouraging start to their LV= County Championship match against Durham at Emirates Durham, losing only Will Rhodes before lunch having lost the toss.

Paul Collingwood opted to bowl first this morning and Yorkshire reached the break at 68-1 from 31 overs.

Although conditions tested Yorkshire’s top order - perhaps not as much as expected, however - Durham’s new-ball pair of Graham Onions and Chris Rushworth did not make Rhodes and Alex Lees play enough.

James Harrison and John Hastings  threatened more consistently, with left-armer Harrison bowling Rhodes for 24 to0 leave the score at 56-1 after 24 overs.

Lees was 30 not out and Jack Leaning unbeaten on six at the interval.
