AARON Finch is confident Yorkshire can still enjoy NatWest T20 Blast glory this summer, but insists they must have the right mindset to recover from their recent poor form.

The Vikings travel to Grace Road tonight to face Leicestershire Foxes and will be looking for their fourth win from eight North Division matches.

Finch’s return to fitness from the bruised lung he suffered in Monday’s second XI match against Worcestershire is a major boost, with him describing his injury as “a little bit scary”.

The powerful Australian was early on a pull shot and under-edged into his ribs. He immediately started coughing up blood before a couple of scans gave him the all-clear.

After an impressive start to the campaign saw Yorkshire win their first two matches, they lost their next three before winning one and, most recently, losing against Birmingham Bears last Sunday.

They currently sit outside the top-four qualifying places for the quarter-finals with seven to play.

"We've still got plenty of time left in the competition,” said Finch, who has a top score of 30 in three appearances this season and has urged the Vikings to be more aggressive with the bat.

"We're on the ropes a bit. We haven't really played our best in the tournament so far. We played well against Notts on the back of Hoddy and Maxwell playing two unbelievable innings. Then, we were very disappointing down at Birmingham.

"It's important we get some momentum against Leicester and really push on.

"We've got to win games, which is the number one priority, but we've also got to start playing in the right way.

“Twenty20 is a bit more complicated than going out there and just smacking it. It's about going in with the right mindset.

"It's about having the courage to commit to your plans. When things aren't going well, it's the toughest time it stick to your plans and commit to them.

“I think we've been a little bit conservative, myself included. So far, I’ve been poor. Sometimes you've just got to take the shackles off.

“We’ve got some quality players, and we've got no doubt we can turn it around.”

Jonny Bairstow and Adil Rashid return after England one-day and Twenty20 duty, but Gary Ballance has been rested ahead of this weekend’s Ashes training camp. Tim Bresnan has also been given a break.

“We are inconsistent, no doubt,” added Yorkshire’s director of cricket Martyn Moxon.

“We have got to try to get a settled team and get some consistency into our play, which we haven't had yet. We can't afford too many more losses.

"I can't really put my finger on it, other than we have had to chop and change the team for various reasons.

“Twenty20 is big on knowing your role and having that consistency – 'this is what I do, I bat at three or five'. Similarly with bowling. If you know that you are going to be bowling wherever, you can fit into that. We haven't had that.”

Yorks squad: Gale (capt), Bairstow (wkt), Coad, Finch, Fisher, Gibson, Hodd, Leaning, Maxwell, Patterson, Pyrah, Rashid, Rhodes.
