YORKSHIRE failed to capitalise on their overnight total of 333-7 as they added just 37 runs in the morning session before being bowled out for 370 by Hampshire at Headingley.
Tim Bresnan fell for 28 as he picked out Will Smith at gully before Jack Leaning became James Tomlinson’s second wicket of the morning and fourth of the innings as he was adjudged lbw for 82.
Jack Brooks was the final man to fall as he became Fidel Edwards’ first Hampshire wicket - and the Yorkshire paceman's mood was not improved as first Leaning and then Adam Lyth dropped Liam Dawson in the slip cordon during his opening two overs.
There was success for Bresnan, however, as he dismissed Sean Terry without scoring, before Dawson survived another opportunity as Brooks failed to run him out at the non-striker’s end off his own bowling.
The visitors eventually made it through to lunch on 21-1 after no further scares, with Michael Carberry having joined Dawson at the crease.
