Yorkshire need seven more wickets in the final session of their friendly against Leeds Bradford MCC Universities at Headingley to force an unlikely victory.
Contests such as this are often more about match practice than results, and the White Rose county indicated as much by extending their second innings by nearly an hour after lunch.
They were finally bowled out for 293, leaving the students a token victory target of 421.
Steve Patterson and Jack Brooks, 30 and not out 38 respectively, shared an entertaining last-wicket stand of 50 before Tim Bresnan and Brooks struck early with the ball to leave Leeds Bradford at 10-2.
They have since reached tea at 33-3 from 16 overs, with Karl Carver the other wicket-taker.
