YORKSHIRE have completed an impressive quartet of overseas signings by adding New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson to their squad for the final three LV= County Championship matches of the coming season.

Following last week's addition of Younus Khan and earlier announcements regarding Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell, Williamson's recruitment leaves Andrew Gale's men well placed to mount a Division One title defence, while they are also hopeful of making a challenge in limited-overs cricket.

Williamson has spent the past two seasons with the White Rose county and is currently representing the Black Caps in the ICC World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Tomorrow he may well line up against Yorkshire colleagues Joe Root and Gary Ballance when England play New Zealand at Wellington. But come the end of September, the trio could be playing together against Sussex at Headingley with their side looking to complete back-to-back titles.

Yorkshire supporters will be happy if Williamson is in something like the same form he enjoyed in 2014, when the 24-year-old batsman scored 629 Championship runs at an average of over 57 and also amassed over 900 Test runs at an average of 61.

"I'm delighted to be returning to Yorkshire for my third spell," said Williamson.

"I have enjoyed my time over the last couple of years and to be given the opportunity to return to the club is great. There is a brilliant culture at Yorkshire and it is a real privilege to be part of it.

"There is a good vibe around the place and you do get a sense we are progressing nicely. The title victory from last season was a major achievement."

Yorkshire director of cricket Martyn Moxon was also pleased to secure the services of another world-class cricketer in advance of what seems sure to be a testing summer.

"It is satisfying that we now have full coverage of world-class overseas players for the forthcoming season," said Moxon.

"Kane was eager to come back and we are grateful to New Zealand Cricket for giving him the time to play for us in what will be a busy summer of international cricket.

"He is such a fantastic talent and his presence in the dressing room has been vital in our success over recent times."

There was also good news for promising home-grown Yorkshire cricketers yesterday when both Jared Warner and Mosun Hussain were included in the England under-19 squad for next month's tour to Australia.

The cream of the country's younger players will spend a month down under and their itinerary comprises one four-day games and five limited-overs contests.
