TWO Yorkshire players made half-centuries for England Lions on a day when skipper Jonathan Trott rediscovered the form that might lead to a test recall.

Trott, who started the third day on 57 not out, ended it with an unbeaten 176 as the Lions finished the unofficial Test against South Africa A on 507-6 at Paarl – a lead of three runs after the hosts had made 504-8.

He hit 14 fours but the innings was given impetus by wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow and Adil Rashid after Trott and James Vince (78) had added 165 for the fourth wicket, coming together when England were 67-3.

Bairstow cracked nine fours and a six in his 63, which was made off only 95 balls in 114 minutes, while Rashid, who needed some runs after a disappointing start to the tour, struck 12 fours in his 78, which took only 105 balls and 117 minutes.

Trott, who has played 49 tests, added 103 with Bairstow and 111 with Rashid, while Liam Plunkett weighed in with 31 not out at No 8 off a mere 49 balls as the match headed for a draw with only today's play remaining.

Chief wicket-taker for South Africa A was their captain Rory Kleinveldt with 4-100.
