Steve Patterson struck twice and Jack Brooks and Adil Rashid once apiece as Yorkshire attempted to restrict Somerset’s first-innings lead on day three at Headingley, the penultimate day of the LV= County Championship campaign.
Somerset advanced from 319-3 overnight to 426-7 from 116 overs.
Brooks had Tom Abell caught at second slip for 75 before Patterson had Jack Leach caught behind for 43 and then James Hildreth bowled for seven, leaving the score at 373-6 in reply to 253.
Rashid then had Peter Trego caught at cover for 41 as the visitors fell to 424-7 on the stroke of lunch.
Patterson currently has four wickets in the innings, which sees Somerset with a lead of 173.
