THE few days in and around winning the County Championship title at Trent Bridge, I don't think you can get too much better as a team.

Then, winning the LV= Breakthrough player of the year award midway through last week was really pleasing and, like I said on Twitter, the icing on the cake of what has been a great year for Yorkshire and a decentish year for myself.

You don't play for personal accolades. Obviously you want to do well, but the most important thing is that the team does well.

It's just an added bonus to what has been a brilliant last few weeks.

The messages of congratulations we've had gives you perspective on how big Yorkshire cricket is, and it isn't just within the county boundaries. There are Yorkshireman all over place!

This week's final match of the season against Somerset at Headingley, starting on Tuesday, should be a great occasion.

Hopefully we can have good weather and a big turnout for the full four days. Then we can obviously celebrate in front of the home fans, for whom bringing the title back home has probably been a bit overdue.

Everybody's trained really well, and we're going in with the same mentality that we've had for the previous 15 games. We've just got to make sure we put in a good performance and show people why we are champions.

You forget about the added perks that come with winning the Championship, and one of those is a trip to Buckingham Palace next month, which I think everybody's looking forward to.

It will be nice to get the lads there, see the Palace and meet the Duke. That should be another day for the memory bank.

If I'm honest, I haven't really thought about next year yet. First of all it's about getting Somerset out of the way. Then I'm looking forward to some downtime first and see what the winter holds after that.

Like any professional team, if you win something, all you ever want to do is back it up. We will want to be competing for all three trophies next year.
