IT HAS been quite an incredible few days for us, waking up this weekend as county champions. I'm sure most of us can't quite believe what has happened.

When you're a young boy and you start playing you daren't even dream about playing professional cricket, let alone winning something for Yorkshire.

Winning the County Championship is something special. For 99.9 per cent of players it is the Holy Grail and we're all on top of the world.

The great thing about our squad is that a lot of us have come through the ranks together. We have a really good rapport that helps and that gives you a good foundation to build a team around.

We produce our own cricketers so everyone knows each other's characters and they are all strong players as well. I don't think there is a weak player in our squad and there is back-up if needed.

Given the amount of talent we have at our club, it's probably about time we won something with the players we have in our dressing room. Now we've brought the County Championship back to Yorkshire.

I'm sure our experiences this season, and going so close last summer, will help us going forward.

Winning is a skill in itself and we've won games this year that previously we might have not have won, but we've found a method and we've found that ruthlessness that you need as a Championship-winning side.

I think it will probably be a similar squad over the next few years and we'll hopefully be picking up quite a few more trophies along the way. We have a squad where the majority of us are in our early or mid-20s and hopefully this trophy will crack the door open for us.

We've got a winning formula now and we're going to do our best to relive this feeling and enjoy more days like we had at Trent Bridge.

It was a special day in all our lives and in the club's history and I'm sure we all will remember it, not just now but for years to come.

The only sad thing about our victory was that Andrew Gale, our captain, was unable to play. The reasons for that are out of our control but it doesn't change anyone's opinion of Andrew and his leadership of this team.
