Yorkshire took three Lancashire wickets during the opening session of the Roses match at Emirates Old Trafford today, but the Division One leaders did not have it all their own way.

Having been invited to bowl first, Ryan Sidebottom struck twice with the first three balls of the match. He had Paul Horton lbw with the second and Usman Khawaja caught behind with the third, leaving the score at 0-2.

Ashwell Prince and Luis Reece have since both scored fifties, the pair sharing 96 for the third wicket on the way to a lunchtime score of 121-3 from 30 overs.

Adil Rashid was gifted the third breakthrough in the 23rd over when Prince played on reverse sweeping for 53. Reece will resume this afternoon on 53 and Steven Croft on 14.
