YORKSHIRE have sacked Lightcliffe all-rounder Oliver Robinson for what they describe as "a number of unprofessional actions".

Kent-born Robinson's contract as a junior pro at Headingley has been terminated with immediate effect, although there is interest in his services from a couple of other counties.

The 20-year-old, who debuted for Yorkshire in one-day cricket last year, played seven times in this summer's NatWest T20 Blast competition, taking six wickets.

It is understood that Robinson has been dismissed for an accumulation of offences which, while not deemed to be major in isolation, have obviously tested Yorkshire's patience to breaking point.

Robinson, the son of England assistant coach Paul Farbrace's partner Sandra, has also played league cricket this summer for Kent side Sidcup.

A club statement read: "The Yorkshire County Cricket Club have announced that Oliver Robinson's contract has been terminated with immediate effect due to a number of unprofessional actions. No further comment will be made."

Speaking late last month, Headingley team-mate Jack Brooks said of Robinson: "I remember on pre-season tour in one of our practice games, I can't remember whether it was between ourselves or a local Sri Lankan side, he just straight away got his yorkers in at the end of the innings.

"Me and Ryan Sidebottom were like 'we have to practice for weeks to get them like that'. If he's getting them in straight away, it shows he must be a skilful cricketer."

Robinson's Lightcliffe team-mate Moin Ashraf, meanwhile, will play in tomorrow's one-day friendly against Sri Lanka A at Headingley as the fast bowler bids to put a disruptive season behind him. Alex Lees will captain Yorkshire.

"Moin's missed cricket at the start with a hamstring injury," said Yorkshire director of cricket Martyn Moxon.

"He got back playing and was doing okay, then he was ill and didn't play for a week. His uncle then died, so he missed another week. It's been a stop-start season for him."
