Andrew Gale and Anthony McGrath both recorded half-centuries to build on Yorkshire's positive start to the Roses County Championship match against Lancashire at Old Trafford.
Replying to Lancashire's 231, in which Bradford leg-spinner Adil Rashid took five for 95 from 30.4 overs, the White Rose reached 147-1 at tea on day three.
Gale and McGrath are in a dominant second-wicket partnership of 143 after Dominic Cork trapped Chris Taylor lbw to leave the score at four for one.
McGrath reached his 50 first, off 97 balls with four fours, while Gale reached it nine overs later, in the 43rd over of the innings, off 139 balls with four boundaries.
McGrath was 69 not out, while Gale was still there on 61.
