Yorkshire’s bowlers produced a spirited fightback on day four at Canterbury but it was still Kent who looked like wrapping up victory in the County Championship clash.
After setting the home side only 140 to win following yesterday’s batting collapse, Matthew Hoggard and Adil Rashid gave the White Rose county hope.
Both took two wickets this morning, including captain Rob Key, to reduce Kent to 63 for four at one stage.
But Martin van Jaarsveld, who reached 41 not out, ensured the Yorkshire attack had no more success, steering Kent to 101 for four at lunch.
It meant they needed only 39 more runs to secure the win.
