Allerton and Bingley Congs have wrapped up the top two positions in DIVISION TWO of the Bradford Evening League.

With one week to go, Allerton are guaranteed first place in their first season in the league and will play the Division One runners-up in next month’s play-offs at Windhill.

Second-placed Congs will take on the Division A winners in the Bank Holiday Monday showpiece.

Only six overs were possible before rain halted Bolton Villas and Allerton, who raced to 62 for three (J Bashir 29no) in that time.

Meanwhile, Chris Hemsley’s 30 not out led Congs to a six-wicket win after Shelf had been restricted to 74 for five (Steve Priestley 43).

Third-placed Crossflatts romped to a ten-wicket victory over John Breare, whose 102 for six total (M Tinsley 41) was knocked off by M Brooksbank (55ret) and M Bailey (36no) in only 10.2 overs.

Shipley Providence made 113 for four (J Thompson 53ret) and bottom side Cambing were then dismissed in 9.1 overs for just 41.

DIVISION ONE leaders Haworth Road dismissed Indian Panthers for 87, Andy Gudgeon impressing with five for 17, before completing a seven-wicket win as C Briggs top-scored with 37.

Baildon Meths were indebted to R Todd (53ret) for their total of 105 for eight at Thornton but the hosts eased home by four wickets thanks to N Hutchinson (46).

A close game at Denholme saw the hosts edge to a four-wicket win with four balls to spare after Sandy Lane had posted 112 for six (P Yeadon 28).

Denholme’s reply was spearheaded by Chris Welch, who retired on 50, supported by Ben Birkhill (29).

There was no play at Taurus in their game against Windhill due to an unfit ground.

Clubs are reminded to submit names for players in contention for individual awards to the league secretary by no later than Saturday, August 8.

Also, umpires’ fees should be settled within seven days of the end of the season, with tomorrow’s games being the last.
