Bradford Gymkhana A and Omars will contest the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League’s centenary Sir James Roberts Cup final at Buttershaw St Paul’s on July 26.
Both semi-finals yesterday were close, Gymkhana A triumphing by two wickets against Heaton, while Omars, who have reached their first cup final, squeezed home by seven runs in a low-scoring encounter against Hallfield, despite Zafar Iqbal taking six for 19.
The second teams’ H Broadbent Trophy final on Sunday, July 12 will be between Cross Roads-Daisy Hill B and West Bowling.
St Bede’s pupil Josh Butterfield was man of the match for Cross Roads-Daisy Hill.
His 37 rescued them from 66 for six against Cambing B and they finished on 134, Adam Hussain chipping in with 23.
Cambing again looked favourites to progress when they were 115 for five in reply but off-break bowler Steve Hainsworth turned the match around by taking three for six from two overs.
One of his victims was bowled and the other two were skiers taken by 16-year-old Butterfield, who took two for 40 as Cambing fell eight runs short of victory.
Dominic Carter was the dominant figure in the other semi-final, making 125 batting at No 3 for West Bowling.
He hit eight sixes and nine fours in their 300 for eight, adding 111 for the third wicket with Hassan Ali Ahmed (27).
Keith Bottomley took a hat-trick for Great Horton Meths in his four for 53 but still ended up on the losing side.
