Mick Huddlestone, who only plays for Shelf’s second team when they are short, has given the club’s selectors a nice problem.
The 67-year-old, who has just come through a health scare, again showed that form is temporary but class is permanent in scoring a chanceless 101 against Clayton.
Huddlestone, nicknamed ‘Popeye’, had run out of partners the previous week in carrying his bat for 55 against top-of-the-table Booth.
Unfortunately, he could not play in last Sunday’s cup game against Jer Lane because he was too stiff but he still turned up to support the team!
