With the First and Second Division titles already decided, all was that was left on the final Saturday of the Bradford Central League season was the jostling for minor places.

Allerton and Apperley Bridge recorded wins to finish within one point of runners-up Norwood Green in the top flight.

Junaid Bahir, of Allerton, produced the top performance of the day, returning six for 50 in helping dismiss home side Salem Athletic for 162 and then hitting an unbeaten 53 to steer his team to 165 for seven.

Apperley Bridge were out for 132 at Norwood Green but this modest total proved far too many for a depleted home side, who were dismissed for 66.

Thornbury recorded a six-wicket win at Great Horton Church, who had earlier hit 121 (Mohammed Amraz 57) as Kaleem Afzal (5-37) and Haleem Abdul (4-37) did the damage. Thornbury had few problems achieving their target, finishing on 124 for four, with Mohammed Nazir hitting an unbeaten 50.

In the Second Division, Thornbury managed just 82 but then bundled out Great Horton Church for just 49, with Mohammed Waqar finishing with seven for 49.

Scoring was not much better at Allerton, who made 89 (Arshad Mahmood 6-33).

In reply, Salem Athletic could only make 75 (Mohammed Tarirq 5-33).

Norwood Green’s poor end to the season continued when they slumped to a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Thrippleton Cup winners Apperley Bridge. Green were all out for 106, a total which Bridge reached comfortably.
