Stuart McCall, Wayne Jacobs, David Wetherall and Ian Ormondroyd may be happier with a football at their feet but they’ll be donning their cricket whites a week on Sunday.
The Bradford City quartet are featuring in a celebrity charity match between a Lord’s Taverners XI and an Arnie Sidebottom XI at Woodhouse Grove School (2pm).
The match is in memory of the school’s former coach Graham Roope, formerly of Surrey and England.
Cricketing stars appearing are former England players Arnie Sidebottom, Richard Blakey and Alan Igglesden, plus former Yorkshire star Ashley Metcalfe, while cricketing legends Brian Close, Ray Illingworth, David Byas and Jim Love are also supporting the event.
Soap stars featuring include Emmerdale’s Chris Chittell (Eric Pollard), Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe), Lorraine Chase (Tricia Stokes), Tom Lister (Carl King) and Frazer Hines (Joe Sugden), Casualty’s Charlie Dale (Big Mac) and Drop The Dead Donkey’s Rob Duncan.
Umpire is former Notts star Basharat Hassan, while the match is being sponsored by Lister Park BMW and Stylo Barrett plc. Gates open at 1pm and entry is by donation.
