The most dramatic COWLING CUP quarter-final took place at Wilsden where Cowling posted 193 for four (Mark Batty 61) before the hosts fell agonisingly short on the last ball.
Needing three to win, Alex Jowett (82no) couldn’t quite reach the boundary and his partner Bob Parker was run out going for a second run.
Australian Alan Hardy made 65 not out as holders Haworth Road posted 171 for eight at home to Cononley, who had few answers to the bowling of Richard Forest in reply. He took six for 42 as the visitors were dismissed for 108.
Glusburn came unstuck at Sandy Lane, who made 80 for eight before the visitors slumped to 49 all out (Matthew Roberts 4-6).
Lee Hollingsworth hit 65 as Oakworth made 206 for six at Cullingworth before bowling the hosts out for 90.
Semi-finals (on July 20): Sandy Lane II v Haworth Road II, Cowling II v Oakworth II.
