Shipley Providence cemented their place at the top of DIVISION A in the Dales Council after beating defending champions Rodley by just one wicket.

Off-spinner Jonathan Thompson took six for 38 as, with only Gary Walton (39no) offering any real resistance, Rodley were dismissed for 130.

Simon Dickens then claimed seven for 53 but it was Thompson again who secured the narrowest of victories with an unbeaten 30.

Baildon continued their recent upturn in form with a four-wicket win at Farsley (192), Munomar Zaman top-scoring with 65.

The experienced John Patrick struck 77 for Pudsey Congs (225-9), who had a winning draw at Mount (150-8).

And Leeds Sikh YMCA skipper Raghu Nath scored 89 of their 272 for eight but saw Martyn Knowles (76no) and his Adel team (208-6) too stubborn to bowl out.

Crompark (213-6) had wicketkeeper Steve Thompson (57) in good form and proved too good for New Farnley as Badar Munir (5-7) reduced the hosts to 86 all out.

Hepworth & Idle knocked over a weakened Pudsey St Lawrence for 42, with Craig Green bagging seven for 18 as his side retained pole position in DIVISION B.

They are two points clear of Baildon B, who beat Old Modernians by 30 runs despite the efforts of youngster Tom Daly (6-49) and John Grey (54).

Esholt’s Andrew Barker took five for 15 as his side beat struggling Meanwood (104) by three wickets, while Halifax Direct moved third after defeating Leeds Sikh YMCA B by six wickets.

Rodley B continued to move up the table – this time at the expense of Shipley Providence B, who were all out for 76 replying to 220 for seven (Dave Fenton 77, Peter Sewards 66).

Mohammed Rizwan (105) and Adil Wahid (5-8) were in fine form as New Wortley (268) destroyed local rivals New Farnley by 217 runs.

Hepworth & Idle B (207-8) remain top of DIVISION C after Steve Peddar (65) and Paul Medley (6-19) helped them to a comfortable win over Pudsey St Lawrence (92).

Mount B kept pressure on at the top as new signing Anshar Mahmood crashed 166 of their mammoth 335.

But a defiant 67 from Stuart Hardcastle and 65 by Alistair Goodchild enabled Pudsey Congs B to cling on for a point with just one wicket left.

Drighlington moved third as Alan Mitchell’s 59 helped them set a target of 173, with Graham Thurston (6-27) shooting out Crompark for 99.

Wibsey Park Chapel were undone by Jhangir Gulzar (6-7) as they fell to a six-wicket loss against Hyde Park, while Baildon C scored 212 and then bowled out Cookridge for 141.
